On July 19, 2014, the "Gideon" battalion from the Golani brigade began an attack due to the large number of casualties, and the attention that was directed to them, there was concern that the battalion's progress would be delayed. Captain Avihai Sagi took responsibility for the continued advance of the battalion, continued to command his company and led another company from the battalion and a tank company. Due to difficulties discovered in the planned route of advance, Captain Avihai Sagi was forced to order a change of route, at night in a built-up and unfamiliar area and in the face of an enemy lurking in every corner. Despite this, he managed to lead the force to attack the enemy compound and hit many terrorists. Captain Avichai's action allowed the soldiers of the battalion and the brigade to fulfill their mission.
